1966年，Les Siliciums de Chicoutimi Ltée成立，专注于生产铁硅合金。1971年，联合碳化物加拿大有限公司拥有100%所有权，希库蒂米工厂成为联合碳化物加拿大有限公司金属部门的一部分。1984年7月24日，Elkem AS收购了加拿大联合碳化物有限公司金属部门。从那时起，公司被称为Elkem Metal Canada Inc。
